McDevitt Taco Supply Opens heady coffee co. in South Boulder

The coffee bar and café will feature a full coffee menu, grab-and-go meals, juices, aguas frescas, and more.

McDevitt Taco Supply has come a long way since its first taco cart pulled onto the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder in 2011 and started ‘slinging’ Super Heady Tacos.

In the decade since opening that first culinary venture, McDevitt Taco Supply has expanded to include a residence at Sanitas Brewing Co., multiple music festival taco carts, a brick-and-mortar bar and restaurant, a highly successful catering business, a partnership with Boulder Theater, and, now, a coffee bar and café.

In 2020, shortly before the global pandemic brought food service to a grinding halt, a  retail space directly adjacent to the McDevitt Taco Supply Bar and Restaurant in Meadows Shopping Plaza became available.  Owner Bradford McDevitt jumped at the opportunity to further grow his operations.

McDevitt saw potential in the new space to expand his commissary kitchen, greatly helping to serve his growing catering business.  At the same time, the new storefront offered a chance for the McDevitt Team to try their hand at something new – coffee!

“I’ve always loved the passion and time that goes into a great cup of coffee”, says Bradford McDevitt.  “Diving into the coffee world will be fun and exciting.  It seems like the perfect offering to complement our restaurant and provide something new to our customers.”

With the restaurant slow-down that has played a part in business operations on and off over the past 2 years, the location has been serving as additional office space and much needed storage.  But now, after long anticipation, heady coffee co. is ready to open for business.

heady coffee co. will provide a complete coffee menu – including a hot and cold coffee bar, hand-crafted espresso drinks, cold brew coffee, Yerba Maté, fresh juices and aquas frescas.   

The café will also take over some of the newer offerings that McDevitt Taco Supply added over the past two years, when the pandemic presented an opportunity to offer unique items for their customers.  Hot sauces, spices, local gifts, McDevitt merchandise and even plants and succulents will all be available at heady coffee co.

MTS also incorporated breakfast burritos into their menu offerings, something that will now be available next door at heady coffee co.  Patrons can enjoy their expanded menu offerings which will include grab-and-go food items tacos, bowls, and other lunch offerings.

As with all of McDevitt’s operations, heady coffee co. will partner with locally sourced suppliers whenever possible.

Boulder’s Conscious Coffees (https://www.consciouscoffees.com/) will be supplying all of the delicious coffee and espresso options. Aside from being a local Colorado company, Conscious Coffees features organic and ethically sourced coffee beans, investing in coffee farming communities around the world and supporting farmer cooperatives. 

Customers will also enjoy other local offerings at heady coffee co, including Incrementum Plants, Life Tonic CBD beverage infusions, local chai, and seasonal produce.  

All of this adds up to a new breakfast café destination in Boulder that promises the same quality and reliability that patrons have come to expect from the McDevitt name.  That name, however, also means that customers will enjoy the uniqueness, creativity, and fun that the crew behind Super Heady Tacos brings to all of their pursuits.

Now, with the opening of heady coffee co., Boulder residents and tourists alike can start the day with a super-heady cup of coffee and a breakfast burrito, while finishing it off with a McDevitt Taco Supply margarita and tacos!
